What percentage of ppl pass their test first time? How does this break down between the different sexes/ ages?

I hazard a guess at 45% first time passes, which is really quite low. And I think the percentage for males will be slightly higher than females. Also I think the percentage may be as low as ~30% for over 60s. Don't hate me!

What do ppl think?

I googled for this, but hard

I googled for this, but hard facts are not easy to find on this. I think 1st time passes are lower than 45%, and yes, more males than females pass first time. Not sure about over 60s, I'll keep looking.

Can't remember where, but

Can't remember where, but have read that it is around 17%.
43% overall is for all attempts.

Quite scary numbers really.

As the country's overall pass

As the country's overall pass rate sits around 43%, I would guess that the first time pass rate is quite low, somewhere around 20%-30% maybe?

Yes it's lower than one would

Yes it's lower than one would think, sometimes listening to when you are ready from your instructor can reap rewards. Rushing to book a test when you are ready is often a mistake, after all this is what ADI's are trained for!

First Time Pass Rate

Difficult one this to find any real data. The national average is about 43% of people pass the test, some areas are >60% and others <30% but the numbers vary slightly depending where you look.

There is very little data released on pass rate related to 1st time pass rate, let alone gender or age. Guess this is a bit politically sensitive.

The DSA say there are over a million driving tests p.a. Therefore given the averge pass rate of 43%, 570,000 people give up learning to drive each year !

First Time Pass Rate

After a look around the DSA website, all the data requested is there, by first time pass,by test centre, gender etc. Quick answer it does look arround the 20% but differs from area to area.
