Learners to be accompanied on test

Did you know that in September 2010 the DSA wants all learners taking their test to be accompanied by their driving instructor?

As an instructor, I sit in the back of my car on the majority of tests. This is helpful, especially if the candidate is unlucky enough to fail. But some learners don't want me there. It's their choice - at the moment.

Making your instructor sit in on every test raises all sorts of issues, from the need to adjust tyre pressures, to the right of a candidate to go on test unaccompanied.

Dave, over at UKDIC, has started a petition. No-one is debating the benefit of sitting in on tests generally, but if you don't want to be forced into it, head over to the petition and make your voice heard.
