"Show me how you would switch on the rear fog light(s) and explain when you would use them."

Fog lights should be used when visibility is less than 100 metres - about the length of a football pitch. Always turn them off when visibility improves - or other drivers will be dazzled.

This car has its rear fog light on - arrowed.

Twist this switch for parking lights and headlights. Pull out once for front fog lights, twice for front and rear fog lights. The lights at the side show if the fog lights are on:

Lights and fog lights are located on the indicator stalk in this car:

  • It is an offence to use fog lights when visibility is good. If caught, you will probably get a fine and points on your licence.
