The windscreen washer has to work - it's a legal requirement. If you think about it, it's easy to see why. Sometimes on a damp day, there is so much dirt coming up off the road from other traffic, your wipers will just create a smeary mess - unless you use the washers.
The washer reservoir is full in this image - you can see the geen liquid. The liquid is water mixed with screenwash, which is available at places like Halfords. In the winter, screenwash (use lots, and not much water) will stop the washers freezing.
Check your washers at least once a week and before long journeys.
